Launching our ‘Sustainability Strategy’, guiding us to net zero

Sustainability isn’t just about reducing emissions—it’s about creating healthier, greener spaces, improving the wellbeing of those around us, and ensuring long-term success for both Amber Housing and Ambient Support.

Our joint and newly launched sustainability strategy is the first of its kind for our organisation and has been developed to offer a clear, actionable framework to guide us from 2023 through 2030 and beyond. With the clear and definitive goal of reaching full net zero by 2050.

This strategy is a collective effort. We’re asking our staff, the people we support, and all stakeholders to be actively involved in the journey to zero carbon emissions.

Together, we can reduce our environmental footprint and make a real and positive difference to people we support, the communities we work in and wider society.

The key actions that we will be working toward are both short and long term and in summary are:

Short-term (2024-2026):

  • Launch staff training on energy, water, waste, and greener travel.
  • Develop biodiversity campaigns and green space projects.
  • Engage suppliers on sustainability and identify quick wins.
  • Conduct travel surveys and explore funding for sustainability efforts.

Long-term (by 2030):

  • Implement strategies for green spaces, biodiversity, transport, and water management.
  • Create 75 green space projects and develop a sustainable procurement strategy.
  • Provide fuel efficiency training and ensure expertise for net zero delivery.

Amber Housing are excited to launch this strategy in conjunction with Ambient Support and look forward to working together to make a lasting impact.

Every action, no matter how small, will contribute to a more sustainable, brighter future for everyone.
